Ford Explorer: ST Variants
Ford has a performance division, referred to as ST. Certain Ford models receive ST trims, which signifies a more athletic version of the vehicle. For 2022, there are a few ST variants for the engaging Explorer.
The ST-Line trim is all about appearance. If you want your SUV to have more standout styling, this trim is ideal. It features:
- 20-inch machined aluminum wheels
- Blacked-out grille
- Fascia-integrated dual exhaust tips
- Black-out treatment for headlamps and taillamps
The ST-Line is still plenty capable and fun to drive, thanks to its 300 horsepower, 2.3L engine. The interior is a charming place to spend time, courtesy of the Ebony Black ActiveXâ„¢-trimmed seats with Miko inserts. There are also heated first-row seats and a heated sport-style steering wheel.
If you want the true ST trim, you’ll enjoy an upgraded engine. The 3.0L motor generates 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The ST trim also comes standard in rear-wheel drive, although you can opt for 4-wheel drive as well.
Ford Explorer: Changes for 2022
Each year, Ford works to refine their model lineup. The Explorer is a terrific example of this.
For 2022, Ford makes the SUV more engaging, more stylish, and more customizable, so you can alter it to fit your needs.
Two new exterior colors have been added to the lineup for 2022: Stone Blue and Burgundy Velvet. The cabin has received numerous alterations, including:
- The XLT Sport Appearance Package touts Ebony seat bolsters with Light Slate inserts.
- Opting for the Technology Package, which comes standard on the King Ranch and the Platinum trims, gives you access to a 10.1-inch touch screen display, a 14-speaker sound system, and multicontour seats.
- You can choose between a second-row bench seat or captain’s chairs.
Being able to personalize the cabin to your liking makes the 2022 Explorer a special vehicle.
Finally, stepping up to the Explorer King Ranch and Platinum trims means you also have access to the 400-horsepower engine. While it’s the same engine as in the ST trim, the ST has other features that make it the ideal performance choice for those who enjoy driving.
